Macmillan Jersey's Rowathon is back!
Macmillan Jersey’s annual Rowathon in partnership with PraxisIFM is back – and the island-based charity want you to get involved!
After a two-year absence due to COVID restrictions – this community staple is back on April 30th at Transform Together Fitness, Longueville Road, St. Saviours.
60 Men’s, Women’s or Mixed teams, comprising of six person(s) will row the equivalent distance of Jersey to Sark (30,000m) on an indoor rowing machine, with a live leaderboard tracking their progress. There will be three timeslots (8.30am, 12pm and 15.30pm) participants can register for – with prizes for the fastest teams along with other prizes up for grabs.
Kevin Alway – Operations and Communications Manager for Macmillan Jersey said, ‘The Macmillan Jersey Rowathon is a great way for businesses, friends and families to come together and have fun, whilst helping us raise essential funds for our local charity. We’re very grateful to Cameron and the team at Transform Together for letting us use their incredible venue, PraxisIFM for sponsoring the event and for all the local businesses offering their rowing machines, screens, and equipment – but also their time and expertise. They really make such a difference – and in turn help us to keep providing emotional, practical and wellbeing support to any islander affected by cancer, in any way.’
Daniel Reynolds, PraxisIFM’s Managing Director in Jersey said, ‘We’ve been waiting in eager anticipation to support this well-loved community event since first agreeing to be sponsors in 2020 and are thrilled to see its return. The Rowathon is always such a fun and engaging event for all those involved and, most importantly, raises crucial funding for Macmillan and the irreplaceable support and care it offers. We’ll be pulling a PraxisIFM team together for the big day, and encourage others to join us.’
Registration for the event will remain at a minimum of £360 per team, with the hope that many teams will do their own fundraising and employer matched funding to boost their team’s offering.
